Panel discussion: Assessing data maturity in the public sector

In this free event from Data Orchard CIC, three data professionals from different UK public bodies will discuss their experience of and perspectives on assessing data maturity in their organisations.

Sally Kerr is Data Transformation Lead at the Scottish Government. Scottish Government has been undertaking cohort data maturity assessments where public bodies undertake data maturity assessments in groups. She will reflect on the strategic perspective of data maturity assessment.

Jonathan McDougall is Data Architect at Stirling Council. Stirling Council has been using a data maturity assessment as a way to engage staff from across the organisation in considering data in the round. He will reflect on the challenges and opportunities of discussing data maturity with people who are not data specialists.

Robert Steele is Data and Insight Manager at Reigate and Banstead Borough Council. This local authority undertook a data maturity assessment as part of a corporate data and insight improvement project. He will reflect on the value their data maturity assessment added to the improvement work.

Each panel member will gve us a brief summary of their experience to set the context and then there will be a conversation facilitated by the event chair with questions from the audience.

The event will be chaired by Ben Proctor, Innovation Director at Data Orchard CIC.
